Powerful People Are Behind My Trial At CCT – Saraki


Senate President Bukola Saraki has said that
his ongoing false assets declaration trial at
the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) is the
handiwork of powerful people who were
unhappy with his emergence as Senate

Oniru Lagos, Saraki stated that his trial was
an act of persecution adding that the

Saraki said: “We are public servants and
you must fill your asset declaration form
when you get in office and I did mine 13
years ago. The charges have nothing to do
with corruption or money being stolen
anywhere and that is why at the end of the
day, I will have my day in court. Because it

organisation that cleared my asset
declaration to be proper in 2004, 2009 and
2011 can suddenly wake up and say that my

September 11, 2015 indicted by the CCT.
Among other charges filed against him was
false declaration of assets and possession of
assets beyond his official earnings and
operation of foreign accounts in
contravention of the law as a public officer
during his tenure as Kwara State Governor
in 2003-2011.
